Good Eats to Hello Eaters

 Hello Eaters!!! 

 Years ago, in another life, 23-year-old me didn’t really cook. 

I’d grown up around it—I helped my mom and my grandma in the kitchen—but it wasn’t something I had picked up for myself yet. One night after work, I was flipping through channels and landed on a little show called Good Eats. 

It wasn’t like anything I’d seen before. It was cooking… but also science. Half recipe, half experiment. Mr Wizard meets Cooking Show. The host, Alton Brown, had this way of making food feel approachable—explainable—like something you could actually figure out if you just paid attention. 

And for whatever reason… that stuck.

 I started trying things. Cooking more. Paying attention to how and why things worked. What started as curiosity turned into something I genuinely loved. 

That’s where Hello Eaters came from. 

It was never meant to be anything big—just a place to document what I was learning, what I was cooking, and what I was enjoying along the way.

 And then, like a lot of things, life got in the way.

 I stopped posting. Lost the domain. Lost the account. And with it… all of it. Recipes, photos—everything. I won’t lie—that one stung. 

But I never stopped cooking. Fast forward to now—and to my fiance

 Ive never lost my joy for cooking for someone and she has always enjoyed my food. Somewhere along the way, I told her about Hello Eaters. About what it was, what it meant to me. And without hesitation, she said, “You should bring it back.” 

So here we are. 

She’s the reason I picked the camera back up. The reason I started plating food again instead of just making it. The reason this is even happening. 

She even surprised me with tickets to An Evening with Alton Brown—which brought all of this full circle.


 Sitting there, listening to him talk about food the same way he did all those years ago, I realized something: 

Hello Eaters was never really gone. 

It just needed a reason to come back. 

And I think I finally found it.
